Thursday's Sketch Challenge

Tracy has another sketch challenge for this week. I just squeaked under the deadline for this week's challenge! I am still trying to get back into the groove of things after vacation and I am finding it hard.

This card came together quickly since Boris seems to be my go-to stamp lately. Maybe it was all that Halloween postings on the A Muse Addicts forum that got to me or maybe it is all the Halloween decorations (and candy!) in the stores.

Here is the sketch:

And my rendition:

Papers: SU, K&Company and A Muse
Ribbon: A Muse
Stamps: A Muse and Inkadinkado
Ink: Memories
Staedtler Water Color pencils

First Day of School

Today is the first day of school for my sons! They are *gasp* JUNIORS this year!!! I cannot believe it. Where has time gone? I, of course, took the prerequisite first day of school pictures. I have done that every year since their first day of preschool. How that front door keeps getting smaller each year! This year will be a busy one for M. and J. We will start the college campus tours to get a feel for where they might want to go. Right now it looks like they will stay in the New England area but honestly who knows! It is still hard to believe we are at that point of making these choices.

We are already planning to meet our friends next summer at OBX to celebrate the Senior year. Four of the boys will be soon-to-be seniors by then and this may be the last time we all get together before they go off to college. Hard to imagine!

Celebrating with Victoria

Victoria, a sister A Muse Addict, is celebrating a milestone in her fight against Hodgkin's lymphoma. She finished up her chemo and will begin radiation treatment in a few weeks. This card is made for her to let her know that all of us A Muse Addicts are celebrating with her and thinking of her! We are pulling for you Victoria!

Sketch Challenge with Boris

Tracy has another challenge this week using the 4 bar notecard. This one was a little more challenging. I am enjoying the challenges. It takes the guess work out of trying to come up with a layout. That is something that can take me a while to figure out. I overthink things many, many times.

For this card I used my new MS Drippy Goo punch. I just love it! There are so many things you can do with this one. It is not just for Halloween!

August Celebrations

These are a few of the cards I made for family members. In my extended family there are many celebrations this month. Birthdays and wedding anniversaries are to be celebrated! My mother-in-law just celebrated her 79th birthday! She is a wonderful woman and I am so lucky to have her as a MIL. My oldest brother and his wife will be celebrating 21 years of marriage next week. It hardly seems possible.

Tracy's Sketch Challenge

Tracy is hosting her first sketch challenge.

I love sketches! It takes the guesswork out of coming up with a layout.

Playing Around with Stamps

I was cataloging some of my new A Muse stamps last night. I stamp an image of every stamp on a 2.5 x 3.5 piece of paper and put them into a baseball card sleeves for reference. It is an easy way to keep track of what I have.

While doing this I was seeing all kinds of different layouts that I could do and different uses for some of the stamps. In this card the stems of the flowers is actually a stamp from the Tag Team clear set and the flower blossom is from the Nature clear set.

I am not sure that I love how the card came out but I love finding other ways to get the most out of my stash.

Jenna & Max - Best Friends to be

My niece Jenna just adopted a dog. She was wanted one for a long time. Max came into her life from a family who could no longer keep him. He is about a year old and has lots of energy. I have not met him yet but she has sent me pictures and he is a cutie!

Like every relationship there are bounds to be ups and downs and an adjustment period for everyone involved. Adopting a new pet is no exception. I am sure that given time, love, patience, training and understanding those two will forge a long, loving relationship.

Congratulations to Jenna & Max. I cannot wait to meet him!

Friends are life savers

The bonus VMAA challenge is about friends. The challenge was to make a funny friends card. Here is my take on friends being life savers!

Friends should save you from wearing a horrible bathing suit and from diving into a too small pool!

One is a lonely number except...

when it comes to stamping! It is amazing what you can do with just one stamp. The fourth VMAA challenge is to make a card using only ONE stamp. It can be used as many times as you want. Here is mine:

My favorite things

The third VMAA challenge is all about favorites. Make a card using one of your favorite A Muse stamps, your favorite ribbon, your favorite color or A muse notecard, your favorite layout, your favorite accessory, your favorite punch, etc. Use as many of your favorites as you can!!

The layout that I used is now my favorite. I used it for the first time last week and love how it came out. The Gerbera Daisy stamp represents both my favorite A Muse stamp but also my favorite flower. I love the combination of pink and black together too!

What has love got to do with it?

The second VMAA challenge was to make a card that has to do with love, any kind of love. I chose to make a card that shows the love friends, especially best friends, have! Everyone should have a best friend!

Passport to Europe

The first challenge is entitled 'Passport to Europe'. The photo at left is the inspiration piece. Below is my take on it entitled 'Life's Simple Pleasures'.

The count down begins...

VMAA begins in 50 minutes. I am looking forward to all the challenges that the Fab 4 are going to throw at us. It should be lot of fun!!
