55 Pages!

I drove to Freeport, Maine in a snowstorm on Friday to meet some ScrapShare friends (officalscorer and tcolby) at a scrapbooking retreat hosted by a local CM consultant. It was held at the Hampton Inn and I have to say it was very comfortable. The Gatehouse where we scrapped had plenty of room for all of us. I got 55 pages done at the retreat which is a record for me! I could not believe how much I was able to do.

There were lots of giveaways, border-of-the-day for each of us every day and lots of laughs were had by all! I met Kerri, Ashley, Dixie, Toni, Dawn, Joanie, Jenny, Barbara and Tracy. Many of these women have known each other for a long time and they, along with Edna and Tina, were quite welcoming!

Providing entertainment was Toni doing her catwalk impression, demonstrating her buys, which was a hoot! Women (who shall remain nameless) who ventured to LL Bean in the middle of the night hoping to catch a glimpse of Simo, the good-looking clerk, who helped them shop. Then there were the greeters at the Inn who let us in at night.

I hope to see all these great women again soon.

Sand Castles

The stamp for this week's A Muse Addicts Stamp of the Week challenge #8 is the Sand Castle. Being on a beach is my favorite place to be. Listening to the waves and feeling the sand between my toes is very calming to me.

The footprints stamp and the sentiment inside "relaxing... with the sand between our toes" is from Colorful Creations where Jenn Shurkus works! These stamps pair very well with A Muse.

A*Muse Stamp of the Week Challenge #7B

I was not entirely happy with my card for the Stamp of the Week #7 so here is my second attempt at using the Cup & Saucer stamp.

Signs of Spring

It has been a long winter and there is a threat of yet another snowstorm this Saturday! It can snow all it wants then since I will be in Freeport, Maine at a scrapbooking retreat!

It is a love-hate relationship that I have living in New England. The seasons, the proximity to the ocean and mountains makes this the ideal place to live! I love the snow but hate being cold all the time. But now there are signs of Spring popping up all over and I have the beginnings of Spring fever. Walking around my yard I see crocuses struggling to get through the still-frozen ground. The daffodils are well on their way and the leaf buds are swelling on my Downy Serviceberry trees. It won't be long now... (I HOPE)!

My New Signature

On Tracy Clemente's blog she posted how to create a custom signature that Katie Stilwater told her about. This is very cool! Check it out.

A*Muse Stamp of the Week #7

I have been remiss in keeping up with the A Muse Stamp of the Week challenges.

The stamp for this challenge is Cup & saucer. I finally got to this week's challenge just in under the deadline. The challenges are announced on Mondays! Phew!!!

Happy Easter

This is the first year that I have made an Easter card. I saw this stamp by Magenta and loved it. For each card that I made, I colored the eggs completely different so no two cards are alike.

We will be celebrating Easter with my in-laws at our house. Dinner will be salmon (served two ways), glazed ham, mashed potatoes, sugar glazed carrots, asparagus and peas. Our guests are bringing desserts and I'll provide the beverages.

Following dinner will be our annual Easter Egg War. For as long as I can remember my family has always done this tradition where each person picks an Easter egg. You pair up with another person who also has an egg. You then tap (smack really) the eggs together. The person whose egg did not crack goes onto the next round. Winner of all rounds has the bragging rights for the year. Some of us take this competition very seriously!!!

Happy Easter!

Spring Has Sprung!

Well this is more like wishful thinking for us in New England but it is the thought that counts right? Well I hope so anyway since I am really tired of all this cold weather. The wind was awful here today so anything that brings Spring closer is a good thing!

A Muse Addicts Weekly Challenge #34 is to make a card that makes you think of Spring. I love flowers and thought a little window flowerbox sort of card would be cute.

What do you think?

I used the Daisy doodle stamp and the leaf stamp from the Nature clear set. Coloring was done with Spica pens. They are very glittery!

March Swap Card

I participate in the A Muse Addicts Monthly Card Swap. Sometimes my designs come easy and other times I pull my hair out trying to come up with something that I am happy with. This month was sort of in between. The category for this month was "Going Green". I could use green notecards/paper, image or embellishments.

What makes me smile

A challenge was issued for one week to jot down each day something that made me smile.

Sunday: We went to brunch with my in-laws today. I got to show my MIL the pages I got done at the ScrapShare by the Sea retreat that I went to a few weeks ago. It made me smile to see that she enjoyed the pages I had done. There were quite a few pictures of her with my children when they were just a year old and it was nice to see her reaction. That is the beauty of scrapbooks. They have the ability to bring back such memories!
Monday: I had to smile today when my doctor wished he had blood pressure as good as mine.
Tuesday: Had my quad office all to myself today. Sometimes it is nice to have it all to myself.
Wednesday: Took Jenn's A Muse class at Ink About It. Her classes always make me laugh.
Thursday: I am reading Water for Elephants and there are some funny parts in that book!
Friday: It's FRIDAY!!!
Saturday: Had a night out with my DH!
Sunday: Easter was a very enjoyable day! I did not stress out getting the meal together.

A Muse Addicts Get Together

A few of us New England A Muse Addicts got together at my house today to make some cards from shoebox projects that we each put together. Much laughter and fun was had by all! A few of us were sufficiently glittered up by the end of the day! We ended the day with a trip to Ink About It.
Picture from left: Karen (sterlingscrapper), Pamela, Tobey, Sarah (criminalgrace)
Cards that we made:
Pamela, Sarah

Karen, Tobey

My card was based on a RAK card that I had done for a sister A Muse Addict. I liked it so much I thought it would be fun to do a bigger version.

ScrapShare by the Sea

This past weekend I went with my ScrapShare buddies to Portsmouth, NH to attend ScrapShare by the Sea. I had a great time catching up all the New England, NY and NJ Ladies and meeting a bunch of new people. Denise from CT (Hellloooooooooooooooooo), Miss CMC (Teresa) from Mississippi, all those VT ladies (and you know who you are). Seeing Teresa's Hurricane Katrina album was very moving! Never having met anyone before who personally experienced all that tragedy it really brought it home. She and her family overcame a lot and have rebuilt their house and their lives after the devastation that happened.

On a brighter note. Karen (sterling scrapper) and I laughed all weekend, thanks in large part to being thoroughly entertained by Denise who skipped going to see Bon Jovi to be with us. We all actually got a lot of pages done (36 for me - a record).

(crazyredhead and Zack, maddiesmommy123, scraplawmom, shelbysmom, sterlingscrapper and me (sitting).

(me, sterling scrapper and denise in ct having dinner at Warren's)

(me - by the time Sunday came around I was beat!)

(The group photo will be added later)

I am looking forward to the next ScrapShare New England Retreat in Jackson, NH at the Eagle Mountain House. We went there last October and it is a fabulous place. The hotel is gorgeous, surrounded by mountains and the Carriage House where we scrap is a great location for us scrapbookers. Lots of space to spread out all our stuff.

Being Green

A Muse Addicts Challenge #31 is called Being Green!! St. Patrick's Day is coming in a few weeks, and even though it may not be a major card holiday, it still is fun to make green cards! The challenge is to make a card using A Muse stamps, and make the main color of the card be green. You can use as many different greens as you want, and the card doesn't have to be monochromatic, but the main color in the card has to be green.

I think Kermit would be proud!

All About Me!

Weekly Challenge #30 is called All About You!! The challenge is to make a card using A Muse stamps, and have the card tell something about me!

All About Me:
  • My favorite color is Purple

  • My favorite season is Spring

  • My favorite beverage is Coffee

  • My favorite place to be is on a beach, preferably St. John USVI!!!!

Now for card to go with all my favs:

Stamp Shop

The stamp for the A Muse Stamp of the Week Challenge #4 is the Stamp shop. While I do not have this stamp Kim Linley was so kind to stamp a few images for me. Thank you Kim!
