Only Have Eyes For You

I have been on vacation since before Christmas and have been spending some time in my craft room organizing and catching up on some creative time!  I played along with this week's sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.   The 2012 A Muse Studio Holiday Catalog and Inspiration Guide is expiring tomorrow and I have loved this catalog!  So many great sets and Monster Bash is one of my absolute favorites.  Besides the obvious use for Halloween cards, I have used it for Birthday cards and as seen below Valentine's Day.  Not an obvious use of using monsters for cards of love but when you pair the sentiment 'I only have eyes for you' with a heart it makes perfect sense!

Merry Christmas

We are having a White Christmas this year!  My sons are home from college and we are enjoying having them home for a few weeks.  They wished for some snow and their wish came true.  It won't last long but it sure is beautiful to see the snow flakes coming down gently.

I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and safe travels to all those venturing from home to visit family and friends.

Christmas Card - Naughty or Nice

I am onto my second card design!

This one is a little more work with the detail cutting so it may not be something to do on a large scale but I think it is a cute card nonetheless.

I stamped the sentiment again on the twill ribbon but repeated it so that it would run the length of the card.  I also like cutting apart the sentiment to give it more dimension.

Don't you just love the Twas the Night Before Christmas cardstock?  I do!  It has so many uses and it is nice to have a cute story in the background for added interest!

Card details (all products A Muse Studio unless noted otherwise):
images: Santa Claus is Coming to Town
inks: Evergreen, Memento TB, Versafine OB
cardstock: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas text paper, Cherry, Vanilla, Sugar, Fern
embellishments: Vanilla Twill ribbon, glitter

Christmas Card - Noel

I am REALLY late this year sending out my Christmas Cards!   Today I finally have time and the concentration to get down to business.  Here is the first of three designs that I am making this year.  I stamped the sentiment on the A Muse Studio Vanilla Twill ribbon.  I had not attempted this before and I have to say the effect is really nice!  You can emboss on the twill ribbon and it comes out beautifully.

Card details (all products A Muse Studio unless noted otherwise):
images: Nordic Noel
inks: Cherry, Versafine Vintage Sepia
cardstock: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas text paper, French Roast Woodgrain, Kraft, Cherry,
embellishments: Cherry Twinkle stickers, Cherry Stitched Grosgrain

Love at First Sight

Ah, love!  Isn't grand?  How about love at first sight?  Do you believe in it?  Well if you do, why not make a card to tell the object of your affection how you feel or even how you felt when you first saw each other?   I made this card in literally no time at all.  This card is a sneak peek I made using one of the new A Muse Studio Valentine's Day sets - At First Sight.  How aptly named!

This set is just but one set of many in the new 2013 A Muse Studio Valentine's Day Catalog & Inspiration Guide.  I love the catalog and I hope you will too.

If you are interested in receiving the PDF version of the 2013 A Muse Studio Valentine's Day Catalog & Inspiration Guide, send an email to me or leave a comment.  Ordering begins December 1st!

Love is in the air

While your thoughts may be of Thanksgiving Day and Christmas, it's never too early to think about LOVE!  That's right L - O - V - E!  The heart goes pitter patter kind of love, not love of turkey and all the trimmings.   The 2013 A Muse Studio Valentine's Day Catalog & Inspiration Guide is now available.

If you would like a copy, please leave a comment with your email address or send me an email to attemptedcreativity@gmail.com.

Ordering from the catalog begins December 1st.

September A Muse Studio Blog Hop

A Muse Studio Consultant Blog Hop
All Things Autumn!

Welcome to the next stop along the blog hop where this month a group of my fellow consultants and I are displaying creations made in celebration of ALL THINGS AUTUMN!

Here in New England the weather has started to turn cooler and there is that scent in the air of the Concord grapes ripening to that nice, sweet smell that belies how unbelievably tart they are!  The leaves are starting to turn and the gardens have started to slow in their production.  This all means that Autumn is approaching.  I love this time of year!  One of my favorite things to do in the Fall is go apple picking.  We have some of the best orchards around where I live and there is nothing better than a fresh picked apple!

Now if you are joining us in the hop you should have come from Linda Suarez's blog.  If you missed her blog, please be sure to hop back to her and then come back to me.  If by chance missed the beginning of the hop, please be sure to start at Karen Crisp's blogTrust me, you do not want to miss any steps along the way!

I hope you enjoyed this stop along the hop and be sure to leave comments.  We all love feedback.

Here is my creation.   I used the new Monster Bash set which I had so much fun using.  This set is so versatile!  Check out my other post to see that I also used it for a Valentine's Day Card!

Card Details:
images: Monster Bash

ink: Versafine Onyx Black, a|s Ocean, Bubblegum, Lime, Lido

cardstock: Sugar, Orange, Orange Chevron, Onyx

Thanks for hopping along with us.  I hope you enjoyed it!

You Rock!

You rock!  Isn't it a great sentiment?  It can be used to convey so many things and it is ageless.

This design is by A Muse Studio and I had so much fun reproducing it for a sample that will be used at my September Stamp Club Workshop.  I also made up a more masculine version which I am happy to say came out awesome!    So if you are in my area and want to come for the workshop on September 15th, please let me know.  The more, the merrier!

If you would like to purchase any of the supplies I used to make this card (or any other), feel free to contact me or use my webstore.

Back to School Time!

Well my kids have started their junior year in college!  Where does the time go?  It seems like only yesterday that I put them on the school bus for the first time as little kindergartners and how they have grown since then!  Now that they are both gone I have a little more free time to spend on papercrafting and gasp, maybe even some scrapbooking!

I cannot wait to use my new gorgeous, fun, amazing, awesome and cute A Muse Studio products. Stay tuned for posts and pictures to appear in the upcoming weeks of Holiday Hoopla!

Clean and Simple - Only Have Eyes for YOU

I am on a roll and having a blast with this week's CAS-ual Fridays CFC65 Challenge! This week's Clean and Simple challenge theme is a Square Card.  I had already entered one card for the challenge but since receiving my latest box of new 2012 Holiday goodies from A Muse Studio I cannot seem to stop myself.

When I saw the Monster Bash set I knew I would use it for more than just Halloween!  I see it being used for birthdays and more.  Like the card I made this morning, I think the saying is perfect for Valentine's Day.  I hope you agree that these little monster guy can be scary and WICKED CUTE!  Don't you love it when you have stamps that can be used for more than they were initially intended?  I sure do.

Nevermore

I was so psyched to get my mail today!  The package of goodies from A Muse Studio arrived full of new products from the 2012 A Muse Studio Holiday Catalog and I could not wait to play with my new stamps!

I decided to play along with Freshly Made Sketches this week and decided to use the Nevermore set.  It is a favorite of mine.  I grew up reading Edgar Allan Poe and I think that is why I love this set so much!

All products are from A Muse Studio and be found here at my online store.

Clean and Simple - Square Card

Wow!  I cannot believe that I did the CAS-ual Fridays CFC65 Challenge on the day it started!!!

This week's Clean and Simple challenge theme is a Square Card.  I love this shape for cards.  It can really make it come together quickly and that is exactly what happened today.  I absolutely LOVE flowers and the A Muse Studio Marvelous Marigolds set is one of my all time faves!

My favorite color combination for a while now is Burano, Bellini and Lido.  These three colors from the A Muse Studio Venetian Palette are beautiful.  When I inked up the image I used daubers to apply the ink colors to the marigold, Lido first, then Bellini and last was Burano.  I stamped the sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black.   So cute, fun and QUICK!  Gotta love that!

Happy FRIDAY!

Clean and Simple - In the Sky

The timing of this week's CAS-ual Fridays CFC64 Challenge - In the Sky was perfect!

The challenge is to create a card showing something that you would see in the sky.   Why is the timing perfect you ask?  Well, I am having an A Muse Studio Holiday Hoopla Workshop on Saturday and I am showcasing new products from the 2012 A Muse Studio Holiday Catalog.  Bats are found in the sky and it is perfect for this week's theme "In the Sky"!

This card came together quickly, probably in less than 10 minutes!  I used the Screenprint Background on top of the Sleepy Hollow Text Cardstock and the sentiment is done using the On Broadway Alphabet set.  The background ink color is Seattle  and the sentiment is done using Versafine Onyx Black.  The dies are the new as well, the Bat Trio Dies.  All products and cardstock is A Muse Studio, except where noted.

I hope you enjoyed this CAS-ual Friday challenge!  If you happen to be in my area, stop by my workshop on Saturday!

July Stamp Club Projects

So this Saturday is the last meeting for my A Muse Studio Stamp Club for this session.  The women in my group like to learn new techniques and I love to teach them.

Here is one of the cards that I designed using the Layered Masking Technique.  I really feel that they can take your card making and papercrafting to a new level.

Now for the project.  This is a super cute gift bag that is so easy to make.  The ribbon through the top keeps the bag closed and it can be easily opened so that the recipient does not have to rip it open.

July A Muse Studio Blog Hop

A Muse Studio Consultant Blog Hop
Christmas in July

Welcome to the next stop along the blog hop where this month a group of my fellow consultants and I are displaying creations made for celebrating CHRISTMAS IN JULY!

With the summer temps in many places in the US in the 90's and higher, thinking about Christmas, snow and dreaming of a sugar plums dancing in your heads sounds pretty good right now!

Now if you are joining us in the hop you should have come from Tami Grandi's blog.  If you missed her blog, please be sure to hop back to her and then come back to me.  Trust me, you do not want to miss any steps along the way!

I hope you enjoyed this step along the hop and be sure to leave comments.  I love feedback.

Here is my creation.  A Muse Studio has so many great Christmas stamps that it is hard to choose just one but Naughty or Nice is very high up on my list of favorites!  Who does not remember being asked as a kid if you were naughty or nice?  Another one used to keep us in line was "Santa is watching you so you better be good".  Well along those lines I used the Twas The Night Before Christmas text paper for the tag and Santa's hat and sentiment from the Naughty or Nice set.

 Card Details:
images: Naughty or Nice
ink: Versafine Onyx Black
cardstock: Vanilla, Twas The Night Before Christmas
embellishments: Cherry Twine, Copic Marker, le pouf, Classic Tags Die

Zentangle Floral Duets

I have been doing Zentangle off and on for over a year.  I love it!  When I 'tangle' I totally zone out and get into the lines and patterns that I am drawing.  If you have never heard about it, please check it out.  It is called Yoga for the Brain for a reason.

So last night I went to my local papercrafts store for a Zentangle Spa night.  I took an image that I stamped from the A Muse Studio Floral Duet set.  I thought it would be perfect to tangle.  I am pretty happy with how it came out and cannot wait to tangle more!

Clean and Simple - Sweet Spot

I made this card for the CAS-ual Fridays CFC56 Challenge - Sweet Spot.

The challenge is to create a card using polka dots.  I love polka dots but am sad to admit I do not use them enough in my papercrafting.   That has got to change!!!

This card came together quickly, probably in less than 10 minutes!  I used the A Muse Studio Hey Cupcake and Tini Time sets.  The ink is A Muse Studio Grapefruit and Memento Tuxedo Black.  The cupcake is accented with Copic Marker BG10 and A Muse Studio Diamond Glitter.  All cardstock is A Muse Studio.

I hope you enjoyed this CAS-ual Friday challenge!

Copic Certified Designer

For a long time I have wanted to take a Copic Certification class and luckily there was one in my area this week.  The best part of it was that it was taught by Marianne Walker, who I think is a FABULOUS artist.  When I think of Copic Marianne immediately comes to mind.   I am now a Copic Certified Designer!  Yippeeee!

The class was filled with tips, techniques and a wealth of great information about Copic Markers.  I cannot wait to share this information and the tips and techniques with my A Muse Studio customers.  I will be tailoring some workshops to pass along all that I learned and will continue to learn as time goes on.   Stay tuned!

June A Muse Studio Blog Hop

A Muse Studio Consultant Blog Hop
Let's hear it for the BOYS!

Welcome to the next stop along the blog hop where this month a group of my fellow consultants and I are displaying creations made for Big BOYS and Little BOYS!

Masculine cards seem to pose a challenge for us cardmakers.  It is easy coming up with a card design for a woman but for those men in our lives, it takes a little bit more thought.   Guys don't usually want mushy or girlie cards.  They want MANLY MAN kind of cards.

Now if you are joining us in the hop you should have come from Angela Kelley's blog.  If you missed her blog, please be sure to hop back to her and then come back to me.  Trust me, you do not want to miss any steps along the way!

I hope you enjoyed this step along the hop and be sure to leave comments.  I love feedback.

Here is my creation.  I love the robots in the Love Machines set.  They can be used for so many occasions.  I like the simplicity of this design since you can use it over and over again with so many different images.  You can even jazz it up more but popping up the center image or even the second one from the right.  I free handed the line to and from the sentiment to give some added interest so the sentiment is not hanging in the air.  Free handing borders is a great way to add dimension when you do not have many layers.

Card Details:
images: Love Machines, Essential Sentiments
ink: Orange, Papaya, Grass, Ocean, Bermuda, Blueberry
cardstock: Sugar
embellishments: Copic Multiline

It's one of those days...

Ever have one of those days?  I have plus a few more!  I am now in a walking boot due to tendonitis in my foot and having a flare up of my rotator cuff in my right shoulder.  These two issues really put a crimp in my schedule.  No working in my garden this weekend and I will be enlisting my sons in doing some die cutting for me as well.  It should be interesting...

I hope you have a nice Memorial Day Weekend!

Color My World - A Muse Studio Challenge Blog

I love butterflies!  This week's A Muse Studio Consultant Blog Challenge is themed 'Color My World'.  The challenge is to use coloring of some sort. Copic Markers, Colored Pencils, Watercoloring, Paints, Inks, etc.

I chose to use Copic Markers.  I first stamped the butterflies from the Papillon set using Memento Tuxedo Black.  I colored the blue butterfly using B21 and B24.  For the pink butterfly I used RV11 and RV17.  The shadowing effect was done first coloring the complete butterfly using the lightest color, then selectively highlighting areas with the darker color.  Blending the colors was doing by going back over the whole butterfly in the lightest color using circular strokes to blend the colors.

I stamped the base image and sentiment using Versafine Onyx Black with the Sunny Side of Life set.   To give depth to the card I popped the butterflies up.   Voila!

Papercrafting - Matchbook Treats

Aren't these little matchbook treats WICKED CUTE!!!

Like the Chocolate Purses I posted about earlier, these too are so simple to make and are perfect for event favors.

Who would not love to get one of these with a sweet Lifesaver candy inside?

You can also change them up with different papers, sentiments and embellishments to suit any occasion.

They are so quick to put together and are another great way to use up all those pesky paper scraps we have lying around.

Supplies required:
Lifesavers or other slim pre-packaged candies, Small Glue Dots, Embellishments as needed, Cardstock, Scoring board or tool, stapler, stamps and sentiments as desired.

Instructions:
Cut cardstock to 1 3/4" x 5".  Score the long piece (front of cardstock facing down) at 1/2", 2 3/4" and 3".   Fold on the score lines to form the matchbook.   Decorate with images, embellishments and sentiments as desired.  Insert the candy into the small flap and staple to secure.  Be sure to staple fairly close to the bottom to insure that you can close the upper flap.  See the template below for measurement and scoring details.
I hope you will make these adorable gifts for your next event!

Papercrafting - Chocolate Purses

Aren't these little purses ADORABLE!!!

These are so simple to make and are perfect for event favors.  I have a friend who is making these little cuties as wedding shower favors in the bride's colors.  Who would not love to get one of these?  You can also change them up to make them more masculine in the shape of a backpack or briefcase if you need to!

They are so quick to put together and a great way to use up all those pesky paper scraps we have lying around.  The only problem is insuring that you have enough chocolate to make them.  Those Hershey's nuggets are so yummy!  Another great point of these purses is that they can be changed up for any holiday or occasion!  Add small die cuts of baby rattles or booties for a baby shower.   The possibilities are endless!

Supplies required:
Chocolate Nuggets, Ribbon, Small Glue Dots, Adhesive, Gems or Pearls, Corner Rounder Punch, Colored Cardstock, Scoring board or tool.

Instructions:
Cut ribbon in 4 1/2" pieces to coordinate with the cardstock.  Cut cardstock to 4 1/2" x 1 1/2".  Cut another coordinating cardstock piece 1" x 1 1/2" (for the flap accent piece).  Score the long piece (front of cardstock facing up) at 1 1/4", 2 1/4", 3 1/2" and 3 3/4".   Fold on the score lines to form the purse.  Round the corners of the short size of the purse and do the same for the flap accent.  Using adhesive, attach the flap accent to the flap as depicted in the picture.  Attached the ribbon to the purse putting adhesive on the ribbon ends.  Place a glue dot on the bottom of each Chocolate Nugget and attach to the bottom of the purse.  Put a glue dot on the inside of each flap to close the purse.  Embellish the front of the flap as desired.

I hope you will make these adorable gifts for your next event!

As you can see this month's Spotlight features everything you need to throw a fabulous shower and it does not have to be a baby shower.  Wedding showers would be perfect for the images featured here.  What gorgeous party favors and decorations you could make with these sets.  And don't forget about the April Showers Paper pack!  Bermuda, Buttercup, Sky, Shell and Lichen, all beautiful Spring colors!

Fabulous Birthdays

Shouldn't every birthday be FABULOUS?  I think so!

The cards below are the samples from the A Muse Studio Birthday Workshop that I hosted last weekend.  Each person could customize the age and sentiments as needed and many did!  It was a lot of fun.  While the pictures do not do the colors justice they are so vibrant IRL.  These color combinations of Belini with Burano and Grapefruit with Lime are gorgeous! To jazz up the card I stamped Ornate Elements using a glue pad and doused the card in our awesome Diamond glitter!  To create the embossed edge I used the Nestabilities Large Label set.
